Nokia is going to announce its new “E” business mobile phones at this year’s 3GSM International Congress in Barcelona. The E65 is quad-band world-roaming capable GSM phone, and the FCC documents show that it also supports US 3G (UMTS) frequencies (850 and 1900 MHz) which makes it a good candidate for Cingular (AT&T).

The E65 handset is a red slider with a classic design that looks like a smartphone equipped with a 240×320 screen (QVGA),a shared memory of 70MB, a MicroSD slot, a 2MP, 1600×1200 pixels camera with with LED flash and WCDMA (3G), EDGE, GPRS, 2.0 WAP browser as well as WiFi connectivity.


The E65 is a 106 x 47 x 14 mm, 140 grams quad-band phone that runs on S60 3rd Edition on Symbian OS 9.1. Nokia’s recommended price for this device is somewhere around 340 euro.

Positioned almost exactly halfway between a mobile phone and a laptop, the T-Mobile Ameo is a Windows-based smartphone based on HTC’s “Athena” design. Featuring a removable QWERTY keyboard the Athena has a very large 3.5 inch touchscreen QVGA display, 256MB ROM, 64MB RAM, 400MHz Samsung processor, UMTS and HSDPA 3G/3.5G connections, WiFi, GPS, an 8Gb internal hard drive, miniSD as well as a 2megapixel camera and USB 1.1.

The T-Mobile Ameo is reported to be a quad band GSM 850/900/1800/1900 device with UMTS 2100 or UMTS 850/1900 configurations. HSDPA, EDGE and GPRS data is supported on mobile networks, and the Ameo also supports 802.11b and 802.11g WLAN connections. Just like the HTC TyTN, the phone has a video camera on the front for video calls, plus a bunch of other call keys as well. T-Mobile say that the Ameo should be available from March 2007 at around €500 on a new Relax 100 call plan.

Announced in 2006, the Haier A600 is another one of Haier’s ‘different lookin’ phone. At 117 x 46 x 21.1mm and 120 g, the A600 has a TFT, 262K colors display, a 240 x 320 pixels, 2.2 inches LCD screen which rotates 90 degrees is around 2.2 inches.

Ringtones can be kept as both polyphonic as well mp3, as for the internal memory of the phone well, that is not known but it comes with a miniSD card slot (TransFlash). The phone does not have much features so the connectivity of the phone can be used only through two ways: GPRS and Bluetooth.

Features such as EDGE and USB are not present, however the phone has a 2.0 WAP browser. A600 is integrated with 2 MP, 1600×1200 pixels camera,with video. According to Panasonic, VS stands for “Visual Slim,” so obviously slimness is one of the major selling points of this device. The weight is a reasonable 113g (3.98oz).

Measuring 102mm x 51mm x 18.8mm (4.01″ x 2″ x 0.74″), the VS7 is neither the smallest nor the thinnest handset around, but to include a 2 megapixel camera, a brilliant 16 million color QVGA TFT model measuring a 2.5inch diagonal, and a 65k color 96×64 pixel CSTN unit sub display. You can take pictures from 96×54 to 1600×1200 pixels in size.

Saving pictures at full size and highest quality only takes about 3 seconds. However, video recording is average, the maximum resolution is 176×144 and maximum recording time is 1 minute and the only available recording format is 3GPP. The VS7 was not designed to be used as an MP3 player, and hence the music playback function is only basic but sending music, videos, and photos via Bluetooth, Infrared, or MMS is straightforward.

The VS7 does not include a memory card slot and with the 32 Mb memory users cannot keep all of their favorite photos and music.

Announced in 2005, the Panasonic VS6 is a good value handset with a high quality screen. There’s a 2 megapixel digital camera, a high quality 320×240 pixel display in 16 million colours as well as stylish black colour Bluetooth.

Announced at the 3GSM World conference, the A210 is a compact and light mobile equipped with a Messaging Illumination, the new fun way to communicate using light effects and emoticons, making text messaging more funnier than ever.

At 16.5mm thin, the A210 boasts a 128×128 pixel display capable of displaying 65,536 colours, however it brings an extremely limited dynamic memory about 512 Kilobytes only and does not incorpotare a camera, but it features WAP.

The handset has polyphonic ringtones and a new way to enjoy communication with colour. When a message is received, the indicator flashes in different colours and patterns depending on the emoticons in the message.
