The Sharp GX29 mobile phone is a compact and frivolous clamshell phone. The external display is exceedingly small, however, there is an exceptional display on the top half as well as a serviceable keypad beneath. The camera is just VGA (0.3 mega pixels), but it provides a video recording option.

You can enjoy 40-voice polyphonic and level-headed ring tones, but unlike many mobile phones in this class it does not provide MP3 ring tones. There is, however, a ring tone editor so you can generate your own. There’s also a versatile voice recorder, but no hands free.

Other specs for the GX29 include: full Blue tooth support, in addition a USB connection for exchanging data by means of a PC. However, one of the major letdowns is the miniature amount of memory, only 2.1 Mbytes of user memory, making it one of the least attractive in its class.

Since the previous release of NEC e-series, the FCC has approved the sleek black bodied NEC e373. This is a new 3G mobile phone which has been released in Italy. It has a nice black body design, although it is not as slim as other e-series. The size of the phone body measures 92 x 44 x 19.2 mm and the weight is well controlled at 90 grams.

Its display screen is only 65k colors, but it is also equipped with dual camera module for video calls. MP3 player and multimedia features are almost useless with only 32MB internal memory, especially because users are unable to get a memory card slot on his phone.

It’s a real bad design for a 3G phone. Since it support GSM triband and UTMS network, US mobile users will be able to use the phone.

It weights 76 g (including battery) and measures 96.5 x 45 x 17.5 mm. The E801 comes with built-in music player which allows the user to play back standard MP3 music files. Indeed to make life easy there are three dedicated music keys built-in to give instant access to your tracks. Better still, the card is accessible via a side slot, so the battery doesn’t have to be removed.

The screen is more than adequate for the purpose and the colours are bright. Overall, the E801 and given its price point, we are not at all surprised to find there is no camera, Bluetooth connectivity. infra-red capability nor a WAP browser.
