Nokia 8310: review

Nokia 8310 was launched in 2001 and it is considered one of the cutest devices made by Nokia. At that time, the phone was considered even quite expensive.

Features and specifications: compact monoblock; GSM 900 / 1800 network; GPRS data; monochrome, 84 x 48 pixels screen; Infra-red; monophonic ringtones; FM radio; voice commands; predictive text messaging; 2-4 hours talk / 4-16 days standby battery life; 97 x 43 x 19mm, and 84 g. It doesn’t feature Bluetooth, or a camera, or 3G, or other modern features.

As you can see in the images below, the Nokia 8310 was available in many colors, and today, a reconditioned device might cost around €100. Nowadays it is considered a simple device, with classic features, but at that time it was quite a good phone. :)

Nokia 2605 Mirage

The new Nokia 2605 Mirage was just released by Nokia and Verizon. It is a clamshell device, equipped with Xpress-on covers, a VGA-resolution camera, VZ Navigator GPS navigation service, and Chaperone Parent/Child tracking service.

Features and specifications: clamshell; CDMA 850/1900MHz band; 1xRTT data; a main display of 1.8″ 262k color (128×160 pixels) TFT; an external display of 1.2″ 65k color (128×128 pixels) cSTN; a VGA resolution camera; video with record and playback; SMS, MMS and IM messaging; E-Mail; Bluetooth connectivity; speakerphone; GPS, with VZ Navigator; Xpress-on covers; Chaperone Parent/Child tracking service; 81.8mm x 43.2mm x 15.2mm, and 65.2 g.

The Nokia 2605 Mirage is already available through Verizon, at the price of $49.99.

New Nokia accessories

We have already told you about the new Nokia N97, but it is not the only new thing from Nokia. They just unveiled three new accessories: Nokia Home Music, Nokia Internet Stick CS-10, and Nokia Extra Power DC-11.

Nokia Home music: is a stylishl accessory, an innovative music system that lets you download and enjoy music services. It can be connected to the PC through USB cable. The box also comes with AC/DC power adapter, remote control, Etherent cable, FM antenna, and user guide. Features: Power on/off, standby, navigation key, volume, mute,home, favourite, options, go back, play, fast forward, fast backward, presets keys; Ethernet (RJ-45); USB (type A); SPDIF Optical output; RCA line-out; 3,5mm auxiliary line-in; FM antenna (75 omh); 12V DC power supply; Frequence response: 60 Hz - 20 kHz; available in several languages, and in White color option.

Nokia Internet Stick CS-10: gives you wireless access to the Web, through 3G connectivity. Features: small size; easy mobility and quick access; 3G; Plug and surf; Windows XP, Widows Vista, and Mac OS support.

Nokia Extra Power DC-11: is an external battery that comes with two separate charging connectors, connecting through micro USB and/or Nokia’s 2mm charging interface. It is made of high quality materials.

Nokia 2608 CDMA phone

A new Nokia device was just announced: the Nokia 2608, the latest CDMA handset. The phone comes with high-gloss exterior finish highlighted by a stripe. It might look like a simple device, but you’ll be surprised to discover that it comes with very good features.

Features and specifications: an internal: 1.8” 128 x 160 (262K TFT) display; SMS/LMS/Start messaging; a 1.5 MB built-in user memory; quick touch access to PC, using the 2608 as a modem; voice recorder; speakerphone; quick-press flashlight; FM radio; LED indicator; WAP ;64-polyphonic MIDI, AAC, AAC+, MP3, QCELP ringtones; HSD connectivity; pre-loaded games (Brick Slider, Aqua Pearls, and Bowling Alley).

The Nokia 2608 will be available in the first quarter of 2009, in three color options: Pink stripe, Silver with Green stripe and Black with Blue stripe. Exact availability and pricing are unknown.

Touchscreen Nokia N97

The Nokia N97 is one of the most expected devices among the N-series. It is so because the touchscreen device will be the first high-end phone running on the latest version of Symbian S60 OS. The 3.5-inch touchscreen display and the full QWERTY keyboard will definitely be present among the features of this phone.

Features and specifications: tri-band HSDPA; quad-band GSM; 32GB of internal memory; a 16M color 3.5-inch touchscreen TFT display, with a resolution of 360 x 640 pixels; a 5 megapixel camera; Wi-Fi; GPS; Nokia Maps with a digital compass, accelerometer and proximity sensor; stereo Bluetooth connectivity; a 3.5mm audio jack; TV-out; FM radio with RDS; Ovi; 150 g.

As you probably already know, the Nokia N97 will be available in the second quarter of 2009, at the estimated price of 550 Euro.

Nokia 6260 slide announced

The new Nokia 6260 was already mentioned before, but now, we are bringing you more news and pictures. And I’ll start by telling you that this slider is the latest feature device that runs the latest S40 6th edition user interface. And this is not all; the 6260 also comes with features like Wi-Fi, GPS, and a 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics.

Features and specifications: slider; GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 2G network, and HSDPA 2100 3G network; display: TFT, 16M colors, 320 x 480 pixels, 2.4 inches, and downloadable themes; microSD (TransFlash), with up to 8GB, hotswap; GPRS; HSCSD; EDGE; 3G; Wi-Fi; Bluetooth and USB connectivity; SMS, MMS, and E-Mail messaging; WAP; a 5 megapixel camera, with 2592×1944 pixels, Carl Zeiss optics, auto focus, video, flash, as well as a secondary VGA videocall camera; GPS; MP3/M4A/AAC/eAAC+/WMA player; stereo FM radio; document viewer; Java support; voice command; 99.4 x 46.5 x 15.4 mm, and 114g. Wow, quite a lot of good features. :)

The Nokia 6260 will be available in Beige or Black color options, and it is expected to hit the markets in the first quarter of 2009, at the estimated price of 299 euro. I am sure you’ll like this great device.

Nokia Wahoo coming soon

Nokia comes with another new device, a flip smartphone, called Wahoo. The phone comes equipped with a half QWERTY keypad, built-in aGPS and it is Symbian. It is also very similar-in design- to the BlackBerry Pearl Flip.

Features and specifications: fold form factor; 1/2 QWERTY keyboard; Quad-band GSM 850/900/1800/1900, WCDMA 850/1900, HSDPA, aGPS, EDGE GPRS; an internal display of 16M QVGA 2.2″ TFT, and an external one of 256K TFT 1.36″, with a resolution of 128×160; microSD , up to 4G; Bluetooth connectivity; micro USB; a 2 megapixel camera, with flash and digital zoom; music player, external music keys, NB-AMR, Midi, MP3, WMA, AAC+, eAAC, MPEG-4, and WAV formats; Kodiak PTT; handsfree speaker; FOTA; E-Mail; Yahoo!GO; 100 x 52 x 17 mm, and 115g.

We don’t have too many information on the exact availability or pricing, but the Nokia Wahoo will be released exclusively for AT&T, in US. ;)

Nokia E63: it’s official!

Nokia has just officially announced the Nokia E63 smartphone. It seems that this device resembles a lot with the E71 model, but there are some significant differences.

Features and specifications: smartphone; QWERTY keyboard; separate keys for “CTRL and “CHR”, as well as “@” and “/”; a 2 megapixel camera; a 3.5mm audio jack; a QVGA screen of 320×240 pixels; Symbian S60; WiFi; Bluetooth connectivity; a 2.4-inch screen display; FM radio; free file storage at Files, on Ovi; 113×59×13 mm, and 126g (it is thicker than the E71). It will be available in three versions, depending on the frequencies: E63-1 with Quad-band EGSM 850/900/1800/1900, WCDMA 900/2100, E63-2 with Quad-band EGSM 850/900/1800/1900, WCDMA 850/1900, and E63-3 with Quad-band EGSM 850/900/1800/1900, WCDMA 850/2100.

The Nokia E63 will be available in Ruby Red or Ultramarine Blue, at the estimated price of 199 EUR.

Nokia 1202/1203

Another cheap and very simple Nokia device, is the Nokia 1202 (and 1203, as they are identical). It’s not a high-tech device, but it is useful.

Features and specifications: GSM 900 / 1800 or 850 / 1900 network; multiple phonebooks; a built-in flashlight; cost tracker; dust-resistant keypad; a battery lifetime of 9 hours talk / 26 days standby; a display of 96 x 68 pixels, monochrome;polyphonic ringtones; no camera; no Bluetooth; no memory card; no GPS; 105 x 45 x13mm, and 78 g.

The only difference between the 1202 and 1203 is that the 1203 is a smooth looking device, in Silver Gray, and the 1202 is available in Midnight Blue and Violet Blue colors. Both device should be available in the fourth quarter of 2008, at the estimated price of just 25 euro.

Nokia 2323 Classic and 2330 Classic

Two other low-cost Nokia devices, are the Nokia 2323 Classic and the Nokia 2330 Classic. They are quite similar, classic devices, with a few features.

The Nokia 2323 Classic: comes with GSM 900 / 1800 or GSM 850 / 1900 network; a 1.8″ 120 x 180 pixel display; FM radio; MP3 ringtones; GPRS and EDGE data; Web browser and E-Mail client; Java; battery life of 4.8 hours talk / 22 days standby; no camera, no Bluetooth, no memory card; 107 x 46 x 14mm, and 90 g.

The Nokia 2330 Classic: comes with a wired headset in the box; GSM 900 / 1800 or GSM 850 / 1900 network; GPRS; a 0.3 megapixel VGA camera; Java; polyphonic ringtones; no Bluetooth, no memory card, no GPS; battery life of 4 hours talk / 22 days standby; 107 x 46 x 14mm, and 90 g.

Both devices come with Mail on Ovi-a free service that allows up to 1GB of E-Mail storage and an E-Mail address, and Nokia Life Tools-access to information on Agriculture, Education, and some entertainment features.

Both devices should be available in the second quarter of 2009, at the estimated prices of 40 euro (the 2323), and 50 euro (the 2330).
