We know for a fact that after Palm Treo 500v was released many of you stopped to wonder what handset will be the next in line from the Palm Treo 7xx line. Also, it seems like one small part has begun to fantasize about none other than Palm Treo 800w that is currently nonexistent. There are some, rumors about this particular CDMA handset referring to it tunning on Sprint’s network and to some elements of the design: no antenna, revised Windows Mobile soft-key placement and 320×320 display.

This information doesn’t satisfy our curiosity and if it would come in a more digestible photographic shape, we could lower our demands. It seems like someone has decided to take the matters in his/her own hands by posting a make believe picture of the Palm Treo 800w that definitely screams desperation. Our advice is to remain calm and concentrate on your daily routine as 2008 will be the earliest time when we’ll hear news of this handset.

We haven’t yet got the chance to wonder why the Palm Centro model is considered to be Palm’s breakthrough and also Sprint’s pride and joy because the overwhelming features speak for themselves: allows users to connect with friends, family and co-workers by voice, email or text, it has a full keyboard which makes it easy to quickly and efficiently type text messages and respond to emails, communicating complete thoughts and ideas. Since the Centro comes with the Palm OS, it offers all of the organizer functionality that Palm is known for, such as a detailed and integrated Contacts list.

Also, the calendar is sure to make your life easier by reminding you there are also weekends available in your busy life. We guess that your impression about the Centro is complete by now and should also be according to the initial point we stated: Choose Palm’s best – the Centro.

The Treo 500v model by Palm is not a mystery anymore and we can stop guessing about its performance because we have today all the information we need. It features: a miniUSB port and a partly 2 megapixel camera, supports microSD card, has 1200 mAh battery, runs on Windows Mobile 6 Standard (no touch screen support), Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR with support for A2DP, 320 x 240 pixel display with only 65k colors.

Also, this model weighs 120 grams and only 16.5 x 61.5 x 110 mm and is wider than the Treo 680, but thinner, shorter and most definitely lighter. It seems like Palm has ended up with one shiny triband GSM device and beginning with the 1st of October you might get it too. Unfortunately there is one detail that hasn’t been revealed – the price – but we suggest you start saving your money.

It would be our pleasure to say that another star will be born tomorrow, but the Treo 500 model by Palm doesn’t seem to be one of them. It is just one touchscreen-less Windows Mobile 6 Standard based handset that you’ll be able to enjoy thanks to the Vodafone packages. We cannot ignore the fact that for Palm the 12th of September is an important date in the calendar, but in our opinion the Gandolf’s birth shouldn’t be a climax, rather than a climb to the top. We are still waiting for more from them and are preparing as such to welcome a real surprise this winter holidays.

In the meantime, let’s just hope that the Treo 500 won’t be a fallen star or, better said, one of Palm’s failures.

The new Palm Treo 700wx is a Windows Mobile 5.0 based smartphone. It was announced to run Windows Mobile 6.0 but in the end the device came out running Windows Mobile 5.0. It has 64 RAM (double than Palm Treo 700w).
The Palm Treo 700wx sports a 1.3 megapixel camera, a SD memory card slot (the phone supports cards of up to 2GB), a full QWERTY keyboard, a 240×240 pixels touchscreen. The handset is capable of EV-DO high speed internet and it has support for Bluetooth stereo handsets.
With Windows Mobile 5.0, the Treo 700wx offers the tools mobile professionals need, including access to mobile versions of Windows Media Player 10, Internet Explorer, and Outlook applications in addition to the ability to view and edit Microsoft Word and Excel files and view PowerPoint and PDF files.
“People love the Treo smartphone because they are driven by the need to stay in touch and manage a variety of communications and information both business and personal,” said Tim Roper, vice president, U.S. region, for Palm, Inc. “Palm’s one-of-a-kind user experience and broad support of key applications and e-mail solutions make the Treo 700wx a core asset for mobile professionals to stay productive and maximize their downtime while on the road.”

The Palm Treo 680 is a much awaited upgrade of the 650 model. Unfortunately it doesn’t bring what people have been waiting for. It has no WI-Fi, no 3G or HSDPA, not even a 1.3MP camera. (It has VGA, 640×480 pixels, video(CIF) camera).
Some nice features are the 65k-color touch screen display, a rather stable Palm OS and 64MB of built in memory. With WI-Fi missing, connectivity is represented by Bluetooth 1.2 and Ir.
With no exterior antenna and a bright and cheerful color scheme, I can say that this model is a pimped up version of the 650 model.
