During Q2 2012 smartphone penetration continued to grow, with 54.9 percent of U.S. mobile subscribers owning smartphones as of June 2012. The main reason of this amazing growth is that 2 out of 3 Americans have chosen to buy a smartphone instead of the regular phone. The statistic characterizes the last three months of this year.
The leader on the American market is obviously Android, the majority of the owners using Android OS handset(51.8%). On the other hand, a third (34.3%) of smartphones owners use Apple iPhone and the Blackberry users represent almost 8.1% of the smartphone market.
According to the latest polls, 54% of the ones who have recently bought a phone have chosen an Android handset and over 36% has chosen Apple.
